On our immersive adventure through the desert state of Rajasthan will see us experience some incredible things. We will be able to explore the iconic Pushkar Camel Fair, and the unique a lesser-known Kolayat Mela, which will see pilgrims and holy men attracted to a remote and holy lake near Bikaner.
We will also enjoy some lesser known experiences that make up a trip and also give us some unprecedented photo-opportunities: stopping at traditional chai stalls, calling in at a brickworks, photographing an ancient Persian Wheel well or Rahat and even visiting a traditional Bishnoi community, who revere and care for all living things. I have even organised a dinner in the desert with dancing and musicians through the son of an old friend in Jaisalmer.
Although experiences are important, we will also be visiting a number of the monuments and places that this state is famous for. As you can see from the numbers opposite we won't be able to see everything: but of the UNESCO sites in Rajasthan, this trip will visit over half of them.
This blend of experiences and sight-seeing is what we specialise in on our tours; and is the result of in-depth knowledge of Rajasthan and solid research, mixed with flexibility and many years of creating spontaneous moments whilst travelling. Obviously, there are far more incredible places in Rajasthan than can be seen in one, relatively short trip, but we have selected a route which doesn't just visit two of the great festivals of Rajasthan, it visits many of the spectacular highlights of this most photogenic of Indian states.
Rajasthan is one of 28 states and Union Territories in India, and it the biggest in terms of land area – about the same size and population as Germany. This is probably where any similarity ends though:

We also enjoy the highlights of Rajasthan: the cities of Jaipur, Jodhpur and Udaipur, as well as the desert towns of Bikaner and Jaisalmer – visiting historic forts, palaces and temples. We will head deep into remote Shekhawati, to see centuries old murals painted onto the walls of merchants houses and day to day rural life.
