Sri Lanka is an entrancing destination, which seems to have just about everything: miles of gorgeous coastline, ancient Buddhist sites, thriving cities, tea plantations and wildlife. We have worked out a great itinerary that will give a wide range of photo opportunities and provide an excellent introduction to the country.

Staring from the coastal town of Negombo, we wil head out to photograph the best of the ancient ruined sites of Sri Lanka. These include the 4th centuray BC city of Anuradhapura, the Buddhas of Polonnaruwa, the Dambulla cave temple and the stunning Sigiriya fortress; which is built atop a massive rock outcrop.

In the north we will also be visiting the Minneriya National Park - an almost guaranteed chance to see Asian Elephants in the wild.

In the charming city of Kandy, we will be able to visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and also see some traditional dancing, before catching a scenic train up into the hills at Nuwara Eliya to see the sprawling and intricate tea plantations; home to the famous Ceylon Tea.

Although we will be staying in some tremendously comfortable accommodation, this will be an adventurous trip. We will spend an exciting day on a trek through tea plantations and traditional villages around the hill town of Nuwara Eliya and you will have the chance to join throngs of pilgrims climbing the long staircase to the top of Adam's Peak in time for the sunrise. Hopefully we will be able to witness the classic shadow this holy mountain casts onto surrounding clouds as the sun rises above the horizon.

On the south coast we will be seeking leopards in the Yala National Park, one of the best places to spot them in the world, before exploring the walled coastal town of Galle and finishing up in the bustling capital city of Colombo.

We have radically changed our teaching schedules on our trips; and will be setting setting more projects and providing opportunities for more individual image critques as well as our usual series of illustrated talks, group practical sessions and image reviews. Our aim is to help you to learn more about photography, and come back with more fantastic images than you ever thought possible, as well as engaging with this fascinating country!
