The Intrepid Foundation was set up in 2002 to manage the many Intrepid charitable projects, and help Intrepid travellers to contribute to the countries they travel in.

A Home From Home
Where you stay is all part of your Intrepid experience and something we put a lot of thought into. Whether it's a centrally-located city hotel, or a homestay in a tribal village, staying close to a region's people and culture is the guiding principle. Our choices are based on friendliness as well as facilities, character as much as convenience.
Small Groups
Travelling in a small group makes it feel more like travelling with a bunch of friends than on an organised tour. It means you get to experience more of the local culture too. As a small group, we don't dominate; we can actually get to know people and do the things they do. Sharing their buses, their streets, and their homes, we're more likely to be asked to join in!
Freedom and flexibility
One of the great things about travelling with Intrepid is that it's quite a lot like travelling independently, but with none of the drawbacks. You're free to do as you choose; to pursue your own interests one day and take part in activities or sightseeing we've arranged the next. Our leaders have years of experience so you can get the most out of your holiday.
Intrepid's Other Destinations
If you fancy travelling to a place not covered by Steve's photo tours then Intrepid have trips to over 100 destinations. These can be ideal for the travel photographer, spending at least two nights in key locations and staying close to the action wherever possible, allowing you to get out and take photos.

I have known Intrepid Travel for a long time, and they have been caring about environmental issues and responsible travel long before it became fashionable and a marketing strategy. This means that they have very developed environmental and socially responsible travel policies.
This, combined with their years of experience and expertise with small group adventures is why I was so keen for them to provide the land arrangements for my range of travel photography tours. By working with such an environmentally and socially responsible company we can minimise the adverse effect that our tours have on the world.
Intrepid's full responsible travel programme can be found here, but the highlights are shown to the right. Click on any icon for more information.
Intrepid provide their travellers a framework and a series of tips that mean that they can help to minimise their impact on the countries they travel in and help to give something back,
Intrepid try to visit at least one local project that helps the local community on their trips, wherever possible. Often these projects receive support from the Intrepid Foundation.
Intrepid has set themselves the target to be carbon neutral during the year 2010. They also offer carbon balancing for flights to all of the people who travel with them.
