What will I learn on this course?

Having the ability to take the occasional excellent photograph is one thing, but making the most of your time and opportunities, both good and bad, is the key to being a successful professional photographer. This is the skill of organising and shooting a location assignment.

Working as if on assignment, we will show you how to get the most from yourself and from the opportunities we find on location. We will look at how a professional structures a one-day shoot and how they can come back with a series of good pictures no matter the weather.

Greenwich in southeast London is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is most famous as the home of Greenwich Mean Time and the Meridian Line. From a photographic standpoint, Greenwich has huge variety: the Royal Park with fantastic views looking out over the Thames into London, the historic town centre including the busy Greenwich Clocktower Market and many independent shops with individual styles, the impressive architecture of the Old Royal Naval College and the National Maritime Museum. Not to mention the Royal Observatory and the Prime Meridian – Longitude 0º.

The history in the architecture combined with the individual character of today’s town centre, all beautifully located along the Thames, makes Greenwich one of the most beautiful and unusual areas of London. The Thames is the heart of London and provides a visual and historical cross section of the city. Its unique bends, bridges and architecture provide many vantage points and opportunities to express what makes London such a beautiful city.
